At Olhoft's Window & Surface Care, we operate on straight answers. If something doesn't need cleaning yet or if an aged surface cannot be restored without replacement, we tell you before starting.

Professional exterior cleaning revitalizes and preserves properties across Morris and Stevens County. However, cleaning removes dirt, mildew, salt, and grime—it cannot repair pre-existing material defects, UV sun deterioration, structural concrete damage, or defective window seal assemblies.

West central Minnesota prairie homes frequently experience hard well water, lawn sprinkler overspray, and harvest dust:

• Purified Water Cleaning: Our water-fed pole rinses glass with 100% demineralized, purified water so it dries crystal clear without spots or soap film.
• Permanent Hard Water Etching: When hard water minerals (calcium, lime, magnesium) sit on glass under intense summer heat over multiple years, they can chemically bond with and etch the microscopic surface of the glass. While our specialized mineral stain treatments significantly reduce or remove surface mineral scale, permanent chemical glass etching cannot always be fully removed by cleaning.
• Failed Window Thermal Seals: If moisture, haze, or white fog is trapped between two or three panes of glass in an insulated double-pane window, the factory perimeter seal has failed. This is an internal structural window failure and cannot be corrected by washing either the exterior or interior glass surfaces.
• Pre-Existing Scratches & Construction Residue: Scraping razor marks from prior DIY cleanings, construction mortar, or razor cuts under silicone seals will become more noticeable once the overlying dirt film is washed clean.

We clean vinyl siding, steel panels, composite siding, and painted surfaces using low pressure combined with professional cleaning solutions that kill green algae, mildew, and remove boxelder bug streaks without forcing water behind panel seams.

• Siding UV Oxidation: Prolonged sun exposure breaks down the top pigment layer of vinyl and painted siding, creating a powdery chalk residue known as oxidation. Soft washing safely washes away organic growth and surface dirt, which may expose pre-existing uneven fading, sun-bleached spots, or chalkiness that was previously masked by grime.
• Weep Holes & Runoff: Siding panels contain drainage weep holes designed to allow condensation to drain. You may notice small drainage trickles for a short period following a complete house wash.

Driveways, walkways, patios, and garage floors endure harsh Minnesota winters, months of tire salt, and freeze-thaw cycles:

• Surface Scaling & Spalling: Road salt and frost cycles often cause the thin top layer of concrete to loosen or scale over time. While pressure washing removes salt and moss, loose or previously spalled concrete cannot be re-bonded.
• Deep Engine Oil & Rust: We treat and lift motor oil and rust deposits with specialized detergents. However, oil that has saturated deep into porous, unsealed concrete over many years may leave a residual shadow.

When assisting families with estate cleanouts, decluttering, or move-out turnovers:

• Confirmation Before Disposal: Once items are loaded onto our hauling truck and transported to recycling centers or licensed transfer facilities, retrieval is typically impossible. We always confirm questionable items with you beforehand.
• Minnesota Hazardous Materials: Per state and county landfill regulations, we cannot accept chemicals, wet oil-based paint, asbestos, propane cylinders, medical waste, or explosive materials.
